The Story of Two Tribeca Artists, and Their Unlikely Lasting Bond

Beethoven for Free The Tribeca Chamber Players return to the Downtown Community Center, 120 Warren St., at 2 pm on Sunday, May 11, to perform Beethoven’s first (written at age 27) and last (at 56) string quartets. “His quartets are gorgeous, serious, playful, sentimental, joyful,” says James Hopkins, the Players’ violist.  Go here for program notes.

Cloud Paintings Storage, at 52 Walker Street, 4th Fl., is presenting paintings of Tribeca resident Jacqueline Gourevitch created between 1965 and 2018. The artist describes her work as "based on observation, memory and invention." May 9 to June 21. Opening Reception: May 9, 6-8pm.

 

Planting and music Kids can plant succulents—to the sound of live music—in Duane Park on Saturday, May from 10 am to 12 pm. The park is at Duane and Hudson Streets. Sponsored by Friends of Duane Park.

A Battery Park City farmers market is coming to the neighborhood every Sunday, from May 11 to Nov. 23. The  market will be open from 9 am to 2 pm. outside the Irish Hunger Memorial, North End Avenue and Vesey Street. A music performance by Jazz Ajilo and a Mother’s Day craft project will kick off the season on May 11. The market is run by Down to Earth Markets and hosted by the Battery Park City Authority.

 

Poetry Walk Poets House 27th Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge will take place Mon., June 2, 6-10pm, rain or shine. The walk ends with dinner and poetry readings in a Dumbo restaurant. Readings take place at scenic points along the way. All proceeds benefit Poets House; reservations are required. More info here.
