This year's Pen Parentis end-of-year Literary Salon features five writers from the food and wine industry.
• Former editor of the New Yorker, cartoonist and illustrator John Donohue is now working on a three-book deal drawing all the restaurants in New York, London, and Paris.
• Andrew Friedman has written or edited more than 25 cookbooks, memoirs, and other projects with some of America’s finest and most well-known chefs; “Toqueland” is his blog about the lives of chefs.
• Robert Simonson has written about cocktails, spirits, bars and bartenders for the New York Times since 2000. He regularly writes for the Food and Travel sections of the Times. He is also contributing editor and columnist at Punch.
• Ava Chin is an author and the former Urban Forager columnist for the New York Times.
• Nina Plank is an author and farmers’ market entrepreneur. She created the popular London Farmers’ Markets.
Andaz Wall Street’s head chef, Pietro Consorti, will provide three courses of signature tastings to 30 ticket holders. These $45 tasting tickets go on sale December 1, but the event itself is free and open to the general public with complimentary wine for all attending.
The Salon takes place on Tuesday, December 18, at Andaz Wall Street, 75 Wall, beginning at 7 pm.
