Here Is the 800-Foot-High Tower Coming to 130 William Street

In a departure from the plethora of glass residential towers rising in Lower Manhattan, the 66-story skyscraper designed for 130 William Street will have a detailed cast-concrete facade that its architect, David Adjaye, says takes its cues from Lower Manhattan’s classic architecture.

"I was inspired to craft a building that turns away from the commercial feel of glass and that instead celebrates New York’s heritage of masonry architecture with a distinctive presence in Manhattan’s skyline,” the UK-based architect told Architecture Digest [1]. Arched apartment windows, larger on the upper floors, are set back behind openings in the concrete facade, creating a unique look among Downtown's shiny new buildings.

The project, developed by Lightstone, will feature a swimming pool, sauna and massage rooms, private IMAX movie theater, golf simulator, and pet “spa,” among other amenities.

The 244-unit building also fronts onto Fulton Street and will have a public plaza on William.
