The State Ballet Theatre of Russia’s traditional staging of this classic features a lavish set, stunning costumes, dancing snowflakes and marching toy soldiers. This full-scale production, choreographed by Marius Petipa, is set to the Tchaikovsky score and tells the tale of a nutcracker prince and the young girl who loves him as they journey up the Christmas tree to the magical land of sweets.
About the artists
Founded by legendary dancer and former Prima Ballerina of The Bolshoi Theater Ballet, Maya Plissetskaya, The State Ballet Theatre of Russia is now under the direction of Moiseyev dance company soloist Nikolay Anokhin. Among the company’s 55 dancers are distinguished Russian artists and winners of many international ballet competitions.
