Trauma, Life, New York is the title of the inaugural literary salon at City College's Center for Worker Education. The program includes fiction, flash fiction, poetry and memoir.
Conceptual artist Jana Leo is presenting on her memoir Rape New York a powerful personal study and meditation on rape. The Nero Award winning author and the Director of The Crime Fiction Academy at the Center for Fiction Jonathan Santlofer is reading a moving story about Marilyn Monroe. Irish born actor and writer Kevin Holohan will read from his satirical and black humor tinged The Brothers' Lot. The actress Kathleen Frazier reads from her memoir Sleepwalker - a dangerous life long struggle with night terrors and sleepwalking. Colombian born Carlos Aguasaco who teaches at The Center for Worker Education will read his bilingual poems about New York subways. I will read about the trauma of living in New York compared to bucolic Ireland! Other readers are Grace Ali (founder of OF NOTE Magazine), Mikael A. Awake (Writing Professor at CWE and Hunter College) and Natalie N Caro a poet and arts activist in the Bronx.
