Parking to be restored at 80 North Moore

Fury over the loss of parking in front of 80 North Moore Street will be coming to an end by the end of the month, according to Community Board 1 assistant district manager Judy Duffy.

Duffy said that Andrew Salkin, the Department of Transportation's "czar" for Lower Manhattan, informed her that the "No Standing" signs will be coming down.

Duffy made her announcement at a March 7 CB1 Tribeca Committee, attended by seveal angry North Moore Street car owners who were prepared to air their complaints about a parking ban that took effect without warning on the morning of Feb. 13. According to a DOT spokesman, the ban was ordered by police as a security measure to protect the CitiGroup building across the street. Duffy, who earlier had quipped that she received more calls from IPN residents about the parking ban than about any other post Sept. 11 issue, said the No Standing rule would continue on the north side of the street.
