At Montessori School of Manhattan on Saturday, May 2, hundreds swabbed their cheeks, a test to see if they might be a bone marrow donor for Kai Anderson or another patient awaiting a transplant.

Three bone marrow drives in honor of Kai Anderson are taking place Downtown this month.

The test to find a match is as simple as swabbing the inside of the cheek and donating marrow is usually like giving blood. Those tested become part of a national registry, so even if a match is not found for Kai, another life could be saved.

For updates on the drives, and information on mail-in test kits and helping the Andersons defray medical costs, go to HopeForKai.com.
