Fiber Art The Golden Thread: A Fiber Art Exhibition presents work by 61 artists and over a 100 artworks, including 10 site-specific installations. The Illumination Art Festival, featuring light artists, a DJ and a Star Wars-themed silent disco (on the last night), takes place Thur. through Sat., May 2-May 4 in Battery Park City’s Belvedere Plaza. (May 2, 7:30-10:30 pm, May 3 and 4, 7:30-11pm). Projections will light up the west side of the World Trade Center Oculus with a show titled “Urban Flourish,” by Robert Montengero, that runs every 10 minutes from 8 to 11pm. Free choral concert “Downtown Beats,” the Church Street School for Music and Art adult chorus, brings a free evening of music to the Museum of Jewish Heritage theater on May 2 at 7pm. Directed by Lisa Ecklund-Flores, the Battery Park City-based 20-member chorus regularly performs in local events, with free weekly rehearsal space provided by the Battery Park City Authority. Bogardus Plaza May Happenings On Saturday May 4, Friends of Bogardus Plaza hosts its Spring Block Party, from 10am to 12pm., featuring live music, refreshments, performances, and kids activities. The Dog Show returns on Sunday May 5 at 3pm with prizes for winners in seven categories. Lunchtime Jazz is back on Thursdays, May 9, 16, and 23, from 12 to 1:30pm.
