You’ve probably seen the Lilac Steamship Museum docked at Pier 25 in Tribeca, and you might have stepped aboard. But there is plenty more to learn via a new video tour and Zoom discussion with Mary Habstritt, director and president of the Lilac Preservation Project, who talks about the history and significance of the retired U.S. Coast Guard cutter, and what the Lilac Preservation Project is doing to restore it.

From 1933 to 1972, the Lilac—this country’s only surviving steam-powered lighthouse tender—carried supplies to lighthouses and maintained buoys. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
