POLICE BEAT: Lunch Costs Cab Driver

Jan. 13...3:07 a.m.
Police arrested a 45-year-old man who brandished a stick at another man and demanded his camera as he exited the subway on his way to the Staten Island Ferry. The victim found a nearby police officer, who in turn found the perpetrator nearby, banging on a pole with the stick.
BROADWAY & WALL
Jan. 11...7:01 p.m.
While a distracted subway passenger was purchasing a new Metrocard, a thief plucked the iPhone from inside her open bag.
7 AVENUE OF THE AMERICAS
Jan. 10...9:30 p.m.
A dinner break cost a cab driver a lot more than food, when he parked his cab and accidentally left the right passenger window of the vehicle open. While the driver was inside a nearby deli, a thief stole his wallet (with $1,000 inside) and taxi license.
217 BROADWAY
Jan. 9...6:30 p.m.
A man locked his clothing and $1,650 in cash in a gym locker. While he exercised, a thief broke the lock and made off with the cash.
33 MAIDEN
Jan. 7...noon
A thief pretending to shop for eyeglasses asked a clerk at Cohen's Fashion Optical to show him several frames. While the clerk was getting them, the thief snatched five pairs of frames, valued at a total of $4,480, and ran out of the store.
