POLICE BEAT: iPhone Theft, Assaults

April 25, 2 p.m.

A thief made off with a 38-year-old woman’s wallet and iPhone while she was dining with two others at an outdoor table at The Growler. Inside the woman’s wallet were several credit cards, debit cards and gift cards, as well as an insurance card, a pharmacy card and a driver’s license. The woman later found out that unauthorized charges were made on one of the credit cards.

Fulton and Nassau
April 25, 6:37 p.m.

A 38-year-old man was collared for assaulting a 42-year-old woman on the subway platform. The man knocked the woman down with a large rug, causing pain to her head, neck and back, after she commented on the man’s carelessness in carrying the object.

Exchange and Broad
April 26, 3:45 a.m.

A 51-year-old man is under arrest for pickpocketing a man’s wallet on the J train. The victim, a 37-year-old man, awoke as the thief was rummaging through his pocket and chased him off the train. He recovered the $2,200 that was in his wallet.

Greenwich and Jay
April 27, 3:30 p.m.

A woman left her purse unattended on the table of a street fair. When she went to retrieve it, the bag, which had her key, ID and credit cards, was gone. The woman, 27, later discovered unauthorized charges on one of the credit cards.

April 27, 4:30 p.m.

A thief snwatched the wallet of a woman as she was waiting for change at a table in Stage Door Deli. Inside the wallet was three credit cards, a driver’s license, an insurance license, a social security card, a residential ID and $160.

Ericsson and Hudson
April 27, 6:15 p.m.

A woman, 22, got into a physical altercation with a 33-year-old stranger after arguing with him. The man, who was later arrested, struck her and tried to steal her $1,200 Coco Chanel purse, which contained her $700 iPhone. She suffered pain and swelling on the chest, arms and shoulders.
