In Performance: "A Haunted House, Indeed!"

Middle schoolers from around the city lit up the P.S./I.S. 89 stage on Friday, July 30, with rousing songs, a generous dose of silliness and some poignant numbers.

"A Haunted House, Indeed!" was the culmination of this year's Waterwell Summer Theater Lab that, in partnership with Manhattan Youth, offered a four-week musical theater intensive with classes in singing, dancing and writing.

The show sprung from an exploration of the things that the 14-member ensemble feared the most and transformed that scariness into an original musical theater experience.  

"This is a world premiere!"  Heather Lanza, Waterwell's director of education, announced before the curtain rose. "Created by our incredible ensemble...and happening here!"
