Now Playing on Governors Island: Late Night Movies (and Great Sunsets)

Last ferry leaves the island at 11 p.m. on movie nights.

Governors Island is now open until 10 p.m. every Friday through Sept. 14. Once a month, there is also a free movie as part of "Escape in New York: Outdoor Films on Governors Island."

Two shows are playing on Friday, July 13:  "Desperately Seeking Susan" and "My Last Film." 

The feature film begins at dusk and takes place on the Parade Ground, a large grassy field. Bring a blanket or something to sit on.

Starting at 8 p.m.: A drag performance by Monroe Sedgwick inspired by "Desperately Seeking Susan." Visitors are welcome to come in costume.
