Downtown Planting Events This Saturday

Kids are invited to help plant impatiens and marigolds, as well as summer and fall bulbs, at Washington Market Park on Saturday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

All are invited to put their green thumbs to work at two Downtown planting events on Saturday, May 16.

Elizabeth H. Berger Plaza

In this yearly event, which will run from 12 to 2 p.m., the Downtown Alliance invites everyone to come to the plaza that was named after the former president of the Alliance and plant flowers, which are provided along with tools. Light refreshments will be available.

Washington Market Park

Every year, as part of the citywide It’s My Park Day, kids don gloves and after instructions from the Washington Market Park gardener, plant hundreds of impatiens and marigolds, as well as summer and fall bulbs. The planting will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. A limited number of children’s gardening gloves and trowels will be available. The event is sponsored by the Friends of Washington Market Park.
