For three successive Thursdays this month, the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra has been bringing an outdoor ballroom to Battery Park City. The setting is Belvedere Plaza, overlooking the North Cove and Hudson River, and the tunes—selected and conducted by KCO music director Gary Fagin—are of another era, yet timeless.

KCO brings its third and final Strings-On-Hudson concert, featuring waltz standards, to the plaza this Thursday, Aug. 17. The series began with the tango and last Thursday, as seen in the video below, we caught an upbeat hour of fox trot numbers. While the “dance floor” begged for more feet, there was no shortage of toe tapping pleasure to tunes that included "Oh, You Beautiful Gal," "Top Hat, White Tie and Tails," and "Someone to Watch Over Me."

The Aug. 17 Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra free concert begins at 5:30 at Belvedere Plaza, located near the north end of North Cove Marina.
