The Best Jazz in the Movies

"The Best Jazz In The Movies" is the final screening in this season’s Scenes Through the Cinema Lens series. On screen will be Benny Goodman with his quartet and big band in Hollywood Hotel (1937), Nat King Cole in The Blue Gardenia (1953), Duke Ellington in Murder at the Vanities (1934), and more.  No reservations are necessary.

The free film retrospective focuses on the performing arts, curated and is hosted by Professor Krin Gabbard, professor of Comparative Literature and English at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and author of Hotter Than That: The Trumpet, Jazz, and American Culture. The screening is followed by a Q&A, moderated by Professor Gabbard.
