Spooky Story-Telling

Saturday, Oct. 26, 11 a.m. Storyteller Luann Adams will recite frightfully delightful children’s tales of the natural world at Teardrop Park (River Terrace at Warren Street). www.bpcparks.org/bpcp/events/events.php 

 

Washington Market Park Halloween Parade and Party

Sunday, Oct. 27. Parade line-up at 12:45 p.m. Park party from 1 to 3 p.m. This may be Tribeca’s longest-running annual event. Kids and parents put on their most creative costumes and march from CitiGroup Plaza (Greenwich at North Moore) to the park (Greenwich between Duane and Chambers). The highly entertaining Lesbian and Gay Big Apple Corps Marching Band will lead the parade.  Sponsored by Friends of Washington Market Park, the park party will feature games—including “penny in a haystack,” a bone dig and a hay maze—and live music by kids’ rock band Princess Katie and Racer Steve. www.washingtonmarketpark.org

 

A Carnival on the Pier

Sunday, Oct. 27, noon. Hudson River Park Trust’s annual “Kidz Karnival” comes to Tribeca’s Pier 26, at Hubert Street, for the first time in its five-year history. There will be activities for children ages 2 to 8 and Halloween-themed theatrical improv shows by The Story Pirates, an arts education company. Screamin’ Green Halloween

Sunday, Oct. 27, noon, with a parade that starts at 3 p.m. Billed as an “eco-friendly” Halloween celebration, this party inside the World Financial Center Winter Garden, and outside on the plaza, includes activities such as “Bobbin’ for Apples” and “Pin a Face on the Pumpkin.” There will also be art projects and large, wandering puppets designed by artists and craftsmen. Organic sweets will be served, and children will be able to swap their costumes from last year for new ones. A “Ghost and Goblins” parade led by a marching band will follow. www.brookfieldplaceny.com 

 

 It’s a Graveyard Treat!

 Thursday, Oct. 31, 3 to 6 p.m. Trinity Wall Street, Broadway at Wall Street, is inviting children to trick-or-treat in the church’s north graveyard on Halloween. Apple cider will be served and kids can have their pictures taken among the tombstones.

At 6:30 p.m., there will be a screening of the 1920 silent film “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” (for ages 10 and up) inside the church, accompanied by an improvised organ performance. Costumes are encouraged. The event is free, but donations will be accepted. www.trinitywallstreet.org

 

Library Halloween Fest

Thursday, Oct. 31, 4 p.m. The Battery Park City Public Library (175 North End Ave.) is hosting a Halloween-themed event for children with face-painting, games, craft projects and other activities. Candy will be served. www.nypl.org/locations/battery-park-city

 

Asphalt Screams! 

Thursday, Oct. 31, 4-6 p.m. Asphalt Green's annual Halloween party will take place at its newly opened Battery Park City location (212 North End Ave., at Murray Street). There will be Halloween-themed music and fitness games, including Zombie Freeze Tag, Spook-tacular Soccer Shoot-Outs and Mummy Basketball, for both children and their parents. The first 300 kids to arrive get free goodie bags. Snacks and refreshments will be served, and costumes are recommended. The event is free, with a suggested donation of $20 per family. Halloween at the Seaport

Thursday, Oct. 31, 6 p.m. Children and their parents are invited to meet at the Halloween decorated Fish Bridge Park (at Dover Street, between Water and Pearl) for a trick or treat parade in the South Street Seaport. The parade will travel along Water, South and Front streets, between Beekman and Dover. Those who want to volunteer to help decorate the park or provide other assistance, or who live along the route and want to give out treats should email April Fleming at alinkfleming@yahoo.com.
