Hudson River Park Day
The waterfront will be full of free activities on Hudson River Park Day,
June 9: volleyball, a miniature golf tournament and art for kids on Pier
25; kayaking, ecological exhibits and a theater performance on Pier 26.
There will also be a free eveining concert at Pier 54, at 13th Street

WTC Rebuilding Report
New York New Visions, a coalition of 21 architecture, planning, design
and engineering organizations founded after Sept. 11, last month issued
a report evaluating various approaches to the redevelopment of the World
Trade Center site and Downtown. The report, "Possible Futures,"
is posted on New York New Visions website.
Tribeca Wine and Dine
Eat, drink, be merry and support the Tribeca Partnership at the organizations
Tribeca Wine and Dine fundraiser on June 12, 711 p.m. The event,
at the Knitting Factory, 74 Leonard St., will feature food from Tribeca
restaurants, wine tastings and live music. Tickets are $100 or $250 and

The nonprofit partnership provides job training to the homeless through
community improvement programs.
"We Are Tribeca!"
The Independence Plaza Tenants Associations "We Are Tribeca!"
celebration will be on Thursday, June 13 at 6 p.m. at Toons Ginger
Ty, 363 Greenwich St. The association will present its Tribeca Citizen
of the Year awards to Kathryn Freed, former city councilwoman and president
of Downtown Independent Democrats, Assemblywoman Deborah Glick and Rep.
Jerrold Nadler. Tickets are $80 in advance, $100 at the door. Proceeds

Tree Requests
Could a sidewalk near you use some extra green? Community Board 1 Assistant
District Manager Judy Duffy says Downtown lost many trees after Sept.
11. The city is taking applications for new trees until June 15. For a

Tribeca Organization Meeting
The general meeting for the Tribeca Organization will be on June 11 at
6 p.m. at Tribeca Rooftop, 2 Desbrosses St., 12th floor. Topics will include
grants, resources for small businesses and residents and Tribeca Week

River Project Internships
The River Project marine biology field station at Pier 26 is accepting
applications for its summer and fall internship programs. High school
and college interns do field work and research on the Hudson River waterfront,

CD and Record Sale
The ARChive of Contemporary Music, 54 White St., holds its CD and record
sale June 1523, 11 a.m.6 p.m. CDs go for $1 to $10, most LPs
$1 to $3. Also on sale will be cassettes, videos, posters and books. Proceeds
benefit the nonprofit archive, music library and research center.
Fall Little League
Even as their home fields in Battery Park City are being reconstructed,
the Downtown Little Leagues major and junior divisions will have
a fall season this year.
The Downtown league, in partnership with the Greenwich Village Little
League, will play games from approximately Labor Day to Thanksgiving,
at the J.J. Walker, Murry Bergtraum and Dewitt Clinton parks. Only current
players are eligible and registration begins this month. Players should
sign up with their team coaches. The league is also looking for coaches
for the fall.
I.S. 89 Track Wins
Despite months of lost practice due to the evacuation from their building
after Sept. 11, the I.S. 89 track team made a respectable showing at Community
School District 2s track and field finals, held May 23 at St. Johns
University in Queens.
The team garnered six medals, including golds by sixth graders Jake Mesches
in the long jump and Linda Moftah in the racewalk. Ann Kelly, Arsien Mahami,
Uriel Frazier and Andrew Erb won bronze medals.
"We started so late in the season," said Coach Fred Dupiton.
"I was very proud and happy."
P.S. 89 Benefit
Enjoy an evening of dance at P.S. 89s spring benefit on Tuesday,
June 11, from 7 to 10 p.m., in the atrium of the Embassy Suites Hotel.
With music by the Manhattan Latin Band, dancers will teach the tango,
mambo, merengue and salsa. There will also be a silent auction. Food will
be provided by Unity restaurant; wines will be donated by Sosa Borella
restaurant.
Tickets to the adults-only event, open to all Downtowners, are $50 at
the door (no advance sales). Proceeds benefit P.S. 89 enrichment programs.
