| River Park Plan to Be Revised After Community
Scrutiny After a preliminary critique by Community Board 1, the design for the Tribeca portion of Hudson River Park is being revised, and CB1 will further review the plan at a public meeting on July 17 (CB1 Waterfront Committee, at 49-51 Chambers St., Room 709, at 5:30 p.m.) A few Tribeca parents came to the full community board meeting on June 18 to plead for a large playground with lots of equipment on Pier 25. "Theres a high density of little bodies on every square foot of grass in the community," said Pamela Marin, a Tribeca mother of two young children. "This new playground will be so important. Children will enjoy it for years. What we have now on the pier is a sprinkler, not a play area." Bob Townley, director of Manhattan Youth, which runs recreational programs on the pier, had said tht he wanted open play areas, but not fixed equipment on the pier.
